Getting to photograph his premie newborn session was truly an honor and a session I’ll remember forever. Every family that comes into my studio comes with their own story and their own path to parenthood. For some, they are coming in with their first baby, others their second or third. And when and how their babies come into the world is different too.
Richard aka “Rip”, was born ten weeks early and spent nine of those weeks in the NICU. He is a little fighter and so, so sweet! This was such a tender and sweet newborn session. You could just feel the love and gratefulness radiating from Mom and Dad over their new baby boy.
There is one photo I took that I take at a lot of newborn sessions. But something about this one has really stuck with me. I imagine there were many days in the NICU that Mom and Dad did this very thing, praying for the day they would bring their son home. And here they are, in my studio, healthy and together as a family, and my goodness, what a precious memory to witness and be able to document for them.
It’s not lost on me how vulnerable and sacred this season is for so many. I know it can feel overwhelming and some parents may even question doing a newborn session, but I promise you’ll never regret it. To have these moments to look back on and show your children one day is SO important.
Rip will not only have his newborn session to look back on but his first year. I am so excited to be able to document this sweet family over the next year- be sure to follow along to watch Rip grow!
