I feel like I have been counting down the days for this first birthday session for Rory for a year now. I know, I know…the year already goes by too fast without me wishing it away, but I just absolutely adore this family and could not wait to see them! Mom and Dad (and now Rory) are so sweet, and I always love getting to photograph them.
Celebrating Rory
Before celebrating Rory, Mom had her hair and makeup done right here in the studio. I love being able to offer this for Moms so they have a chance to relax and in this case, reflect over the last year before celebrating with her daughter! Once Mom was ready, we picked out two beautiful dresses, one for her and one for Rory. These are new to the LKP Wardrobe and they both looked so beautiful in them.
Rory’s first birthday session truly felt like a celebration and was full of so much joy. This was our third session together, after photographing their maternity and newborn session together. I loved getting to catch up with them and hear all about their first year as parents. We played, took some really special photos, and truly just had a lovely time. Rory is on the move, loves Mom and Dad, and they could not be more smitten with their baby girl.
A Few Extra Special Photos
We took photos of Rory with her favorite teddy bear and also with a beautiful family heirloom ring. The ring was a gift from Rory’s grandfather and they plan to pass it down to Rory one day when she’s older. I love that they incorporated this into both their newborn and first birthday session. They’ll be able to show Rory these photos from their sessions over the years and how it’s been part of her story from the very beginning.
