Your baby changes so quickly in the first year. One day they are doing tummy time, and before you know it they are sitting up, clapping, crawling, and showing off the sweetest little personality. As an Indianapolis Portrait Photographer, milestone sessions are designed to capture those in-between stages that feel small right now but will mean everything later. Most families choose to photograph around 3 to 4 months, 6 to 8 months when baby is sitting independently, and again around their first birthday. Sessions take place in my Carmel studio, where everything is styled and prepared ahead of time so you can simply walk in and enjoy the experience.

before the session
Once you inquire, we’ll choose a date based on your baby’s developmental stage and officially reserve your session. You’ll receive preparation guidance along with wardrobe options for your baby and access to my studio dress collection for moms. If you’d like, we can also arrange professional hair and makeup so you feel completely ready and confident for your session.

during the session
Sessions are calm, baby-led, and thoughtfully styled. I guide you through simple setups while allowing your baby’s personality to shine. You can relax, enjoy the moment, and trust that every sweet detail is being captured.

after the session
You’ll receive a beautifully edited online gallery where you can view your images and select your collection. The process is simple and done entirely online, making it easy to choose what works best for your family. Once your selections are finalized, your artwork and digital files are delivered so you can start enjoying them right away.

When should I book a milestone session?
Most families schedule around 3 to 4 months, 6 to 8 months when baby is sitting independently, and at one year to celebrate their first birthday.
What should my baby wear?
I provide a curated studio wardrobe filled with soft, neutral pieces that photograph beautifully. You are also welcome to bring any outfits if there is something special you would like included.
What should I wear as a mom?
You’ll have access to my collection of studio dresses that are specifically chosen to flatter and photograph beautifully. Professional hair and makeup is also available to help you feel polished and confident. Some families like to go more casual for these as well! Whatever feels right for your family’s style.
Are cake smash photos included in first birthday sessions?
Families are always welcome to bring a small cake to include a cake smash during their first birthday session. We begin with timeless portraits first, then end with a simple and refined cake smash that keeps the overall look cohesive and classic.
